Now

This page is about what I’ve been doing lately, and what I will be working on. I got this idea from Derek Sivers at nownownow.com.

Current Reading

I thought I would be done reading Asimov’s Robot + Empire + Foundation series-es by now, but I undershot my prediction. I’m currently halfway through Foundation and Earth, #14 of 17 in u/Algernon_Asimov’s reading order; he doesn’t include The End of Eternity as the last book, but I do.

I’ll start on Old Testament Survey: The Message, Form, and Background of the Old Testament when I am done, then maybe move onto New Testament Survey to finish off the unofficial duology.

I haven’t mentioned it before since it’s a continuing thing, but I am doing a read through of Bible. Today I finished 2 Chronicles. Excuse my wheezing as I catch my breath—reading from 1 Kings up until Ezra is a lot to take in.

Current Writing

Before the plandemic started I was knocking out the first draft of Jade Green Parallels, the follow-up to Pale Blue Scratch nearly every morning. That stopped, but earlier this week I picked the poor dear back up again, though most of it was reading what I had so far to get reacquainted. I want to finish this first draft by the end of February. I don’t think that’s too ambitious.

Writings from Friends

I finished the formatting of Ed’s writings for the printed versions, with two compilations of fiction. All of them are listed here, under the Print Books heading. For some reason, there’s no author landing page, but maybe that’s something I have to set up directly.

Jill released both the e-book and paperback version of Delivering Hope. I mentioned to her that dragonflies tend to be an underutilized animal in cover artwork, both for books and music albums. Maybe that’s a good thing?

One of the writers in my critique group, Mallika, released In the Dark I See You. I’ve been known to lie but I’m not lying about this.

Puzzle Box

I bought this coin bank puzzle box for my son for Christmas. I am mostly too unobservant to solve these kinds of things, so I had to consult the solution page to figure out the first steps (quarters work to activate it; the other coin denominations are too small). It didn’t come with directions, but it did come in a wet, crushed shipping box. The actual puzzle was unharmed, except for that one time I used harsh language in reference to its mother.
