It’s a terrible show, but I spotted Stairwell posters in the background of the “Ted Mosby, Architect” episode of How I Met Your Mother. It’s unusual because: 1) I like the band, 2) they aren’t well-known at all, 3) even though they aren’t well-known, it still hard to find any reference to them online, and 4) I just uploaded their two albums, here and here, to YouTube (I don’t care about copyright stuff).
Even though the series is on Hulu, I had to get the screenshot from YouTube, from this clip, because taking a screenshot from Hulu results in a blank black screen. Hence the potato-quality image.
While poking around online to find the episode online to get a screenshot, I felt my sanity slipping fast. There was a different episode involving a line to get into a nightclub (“Okay Awesome”), but it didn’t have the Stairwell posters. Ravage, MoZella, and Phylum Chordata posters were there, but no Stairwell. That’s how 2020 is going: I nearly got gaslighted by a sitcom.

Looks like they were on Takehold Records and maybe almost a Christian band? I remember hearing about a Deepspace5 magnet in some TV show or movie. Also, thank you for reminding me that “gaslighted” is one of those words – no matter how many times I read the definition – I forget the meaning of!
Correct on both counts. They were a solid power pop band.
I remember Deepspace5 somewhat. I didn’t listen to them but I had friends who did. Unless they gaslighted (gaslit?) me…
