Links of Possible Relevance, Part 43

Why Sexual Morality May be Far More Important than You Ever Thought
Kirk (the author) rightly points out the sexual restraint is a sign, not a cause, of civilizational flourishing. We could assume that loosening sexual restraints is also a sign, not a cause, of decline. There’s probably a myriad of causes that contribute to civilizational declines, but I would say material affluence is the very start of it, because affluence is never just affluence by itself; it always seems to invite the factors that cause the decline.

custom controller mod community this is a public shoutout lookin for a pro controller with gcc port mod. love da pro con feel but need da gcc input. Namaste 🙏
This tweet really pointed out to me how many specific “communities” there are out there. It makes sense for this guy because he plays in Anamanaguchi, so he makes a living off of knowing video games. But how specific can this stuff get? The same with podcasts. Season 3 of “That One Time Last Fall I Thought About Going Through the Burger King Drive Through, But Decided Against It,” coming soon, with exclusive interviews with the restaurant staff.

The Island of Dr Moreau – The Most Disastrous Movie Ever Made
After hearing about how horrible the filming was, I actually want to see this movie now.

Flashback 1996: Man sues Pepsi for not giving him a Harrier Jet
I remember this commercial, and if there was a Harrier jet on the line, I might sue, too.

50 REAL Differences Between Men & Women
Nothing too controversial here, at least to sane people, but some of the minor biological and behavioral differences are interesting to note. I thought the evidence that girls at play are 20 times more likely to take turns than boys was small but significant.

Scientific mystery: Man living with 90% of his brain missing
This came up when I was searching for opinion articles about the mind-body problem. This guy’s situation makes a case for the mind ultimately not being a physical phenomenon, or at least not something necessarily residing in the brain.

Altiyan Childs Exposes Freemasonry
He seems pretty sincere, but I don’t know, man. Celebrities are photographed every day of their lives, so they’re bound to pose every which way imaginable and up covering an eye or making some weird hand motion or hiding a hand, etc. Some of the public photographs of celebrities showing the horns are likely them just waving. If you notice (I tried doing it just now), it takes some effort to open and close all your fingers in a wave, as opposed to just the middle and ring fingers. If you’re in public, waving to a bunch of folks, with dozens of cameras flashing, some of those resulting photos are going to look like you’re making the horn sign. In the end, it doesn’t matter that much. There’s undoubtedly psychopaths in control of a lot of money and people, but you don’t need Satanism for that. Interesting to note that the original video from Childs was taken down from Youtube for “harrassment.”

Watch: ‘Prime Creator of Earth’ Interrupts Coronavirus Press Conference in Australia
I haven’t really thought what someone titled “The Prime Creator of Earth” would look like as a human, to be honest. I’m open to any idea on that.

TV reporter busted faking muddy rescue effort in flood-ravaged town | New York Post
This happens more often than you might think, but more so with photography. Video fakery is a bit harder to pull off, and easier to expose, obviously. I remember, sometime during the Iraq war, most of which was not media-approved, seeing a photo of a pristine teddy bear laying among shattered glass and rubble on the street, after a bombing attack. To me, it was obviously planted there by the photographer, because his editor needed that type of photo at the time, but it’s hard to prove conspiracy since it’s entirely possible it was a photograph with a genuine context.

Atelier Ryza Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout • Battle System Gameplay • PS4 Switch PC
I’ve never heard such bright, positive sounding music for battle sequences in a JRPG. Might be kind of hard to hear underneath the character babbling and fighting sounds, so here’s an extended version of the song. Not a bad choice to get the writing juices flowing.

Thanks for adding a piece to my mind-body dualist toolkit. I’m hoping to read some of Frank Jackson’s work arguing against physicalism eventually.

I’ve never read Jackson. I haven’t read much of what’s out there about the issue, except for what’s online.

Here’s a thought: what if the mind/brain relationship is is fractalized: if you end up with 10% of what’s normal human brain matter, the mind interacts with that partial mass of brain in the same way. It might be a first step in explaining what’s going on with that guy.

Minor note about your first item: The “Sexual Revolution” in the 1960s was no such thing. It as simply a social move to admit what everyone was doing already, something that had actually become a serious more flaw in the West almost a century before. That was when a whole raft of social “science” was born and morality was turned on its head, particularly in English-speaking countries. Major note on the same link: People simply do not realize the vast demonic traffic involved in human sexual license. The unseen consequences are enormous.

90% brain missing: The other conclusion is that we not be using very much of our brains in the first place. 🙂

I’m not sure I want to invest five hours on some blather about the Freemasons. On the other hand, I’ve already invested way too much time investigating that organization and it’s allies. My grandfather was part of that, and warned me to stay away from it. He was a member only because it was the best way at that time (early 1900s) for someone as poor as he to secure a solid promise of hospice care at the end of life, which it turns out was used by my grandmother. I don’t think Freemasons matter that much any more; it has become a mere social club that pretends it has some kind of influence on society.

I’ve watched TV reporters locally faking news impressions like that story you linked. I’ve also seen first hand extensive interviews edited to indicate something entirely different than what the original conversation was about. I’ve considered journalists to be the lowest form of humanity for quite some time, worse than politicians.

    • Jay says:

I listened more so to the Freemason video, than watched, during some repetitive work. I don’t think I could endure 5 hours of a rambling documentary either.
